Well, I have a 1988 K1500 with the 5.7 and one day that truck sputtered and stalled randomly on the road. Pulled over and she fired back up again only to stall again a few seconds later. Got it towed home and discovered no fuel coming from the pump. Checked the relay and it was fine so I decided to replace the pump and still no fuel. I should also clarify that I know there is no fuel coming out because I still have the tank dropped and is all dissconnected to verify the filter and other parts are not the problem. These models often have very faulty ignition switches so I went ahead and replaced that and STILL nothing...The pump has power and ground so what else it could be is beyond my auto experience. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciatted! Thankfully, I get huge price breaks on car parts so this hasnt cost me more then $60 so far, but is very annoying! Thanks in advance for any help!

I have decided, now that I only drive my big truck once a week or so, that it's time to finally make it my dream truck

My truck is an 05 sierra Z71. It came factory with 4.10 gears and the L33 engine which from my research is a pretty nasty engine, flat top pistons, 10.0:1 compression and a bigger cam than the other 5.3s and its an all aluminum block. I have been looking around all over the internet and found several top end packages and other goodie bundles. I have come to be fond of the Trick Flo packages, and an STS turbo kit. But is my motor the LS2 or LS1, or what ???? Will these kits work well with the turbocharger, or should I just build a kit from scratch?
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFS-K305-455-425/ thats the trick flo kit I've looked at. I was wanting a cam with a little lower lobe separation for that choppy idle, of course I would get an EFI live tune. So anyone have suggestions on parts or performance shops in SC, NC or even GA that i could contact?

I was wondering if anybody is interested in purchasing custom built performance parts that are better than other "store-bought" intakes and parts. I can build custom cold air intakes (single or dual filter setups), porting & polishing throttle bodies (service), and other services and parts like that. The cold air intakes consist of; intake tube(black, brushed, polished, or chrome), K&N or AEM racing filter, clamps, couplers (red, blue, or black), MAF adapter, and heat shield. *Pre-filter is available at an additional cost* All of these services and parts will be sold on eBay if there is a decent interest in these parts & services. My cold air intake will filter, perform, and sound better than other "store-bought" intakes and they are much cheaper! Post if you have any questions or if you are interested in these products. I take pride in my work and will stand by it!

Cat removal: Worth it for MPG? How will the computer handle it?

So I've been considering removal, bypass, or emptying of my cats for performance and fuel economy reasons. Does anyone have an idea of what kind of MPG improvement this might yield due to the reduced exhaust restriction in the system? Also, how will the computer handle it given that the upstream and downstream O2 sensors will read about the same? Will it throw idiot lights? Would I need to disable my downstream O2 sensors with my handheld programmer?

Advice wanted. I'm weighing the benefits versus the known drawbacks (among which I include the various fines). I'm just doing my homework for the time being so that I can make an informed decision.

Surreal

P.S. Yes, I know I won't pass emissions tests if I do anything other than a bypass (a la electric cutouts). I'm not worried about that.
