Anyone have the measurement from the center of the hub to the top of the fenderwell for a NNBS (2012) 2500HD? I gave the torsion bar bolts three full turns and the lower control arm is still nicely touching the jounce stopper. Started at 24", ended up at 24-3/4" like expected, but I also have some added weight on the nose and I'm wondering if I actually did any lifting; or if I just returned to the factory ride height?

I just went to a shop today and had them order a ready lift leveling kit for my 2012 silverado 1500. I've been reading a lot of threads on here and notice people are using several different inch sizes. My truck is 4x4 and has the Z71 package, and I told the shop to order me a 2" level kit, but now that I'm seeing they make 2.25" and 2.5" how do I know which size will make the truck the most level?

I read that the Z71 adds a 2" block to the back, so I was assuming that adding a leveling kit of 2" to the front would make it match but now I'm unsure.

Thanks for any help.

new leaf springs vs. shackle flip

alright guys heres my dilemma...
my rear leafs are in need of replacing, been noticing for some time that they have been sagging, theyre pretty flat right now.
I have the OEM 2/1 leaf pack which is rated around 1500 lbs per side.
Now on top of that I do have 3" rear blocks that I would like to rid myself of, just not a fan of the blocks and never have been.
so basically im looking to solve 2 problems...

To do this I have 2 main options I am looking at and other options that can be pieced together.

Option 1: (~$300.00)
___order a set of 2500 leaf springs (4/1 leaf pack) rated at 2025 lbs per side, which would provide between 2-3" of lift.
______pros: remove blocks, same stance (ballpark), increased load capacity (if needed)
______cons: rough ride when empty...(I would like input on how rough it is, if i chose this option, because, frankly, I'm driving a truck, its not like I expect a smooth ride anyway...)

Option 2: (~$200.00 + ~$200.00 for 1500 (2/1 leaf pack) replacement leaf springs)
___order offroaddesigns shackle flip kit http://www.offroaddesign.com/catalog/shacklekit.htm
______pros: kit provides 4" of lift, flips the leaf spring shackle, remove blocks, removes tension shackle converts it to compression shackle
______cons: labor of removing riveted OEM shackles (fun work?!), must buy this and OEM replacement leaf springs because with lift it provides it still doesnt fix my sagging springs

id rather stay away from an add-a-leaf.
obviously i cant do both of these options because it would provide too much lift...(i.e. 2500 leafs + shackle flip)
just wondering some input on this topic, thanks guys!

IFS to Solid Axle Conversion

Ok, new thing I'm looking into is a Solid Axle Swap. I can't seem to find any kits for a 1999 1/2 1500 4wd. Any body know anything about this? I'm just starting to do research about it, so I am looking for info on compatible axles and bracket systems. I already have a 6" rough country NTD lift kit on the truck, but I've had nothing but issues with my IFS and want to swap over to a solid axle. Based on the amount of fabrication work required, I'll probably have it done by a shop, but if I can find an axle, and brackets and everything I need online, I may do it in my garage. I run 35" Nitto Mud Grapplers right now, and any info would be helpful. Thanks guys!

in southern CA i see a LOT of stupid lifts... mostly from people who will never even see a dirt road.
these are the 2 most common mistakes people make with their lift. it scares me to see it on the highway doing 70+

first you probably know; lift blocks. dont stack them! seriously!... dont do it. a steep embankment, huge pothole, a heavy trailer, even an abrupt lane change they can separate and/or crack. spend a little extra and get a combination of good shackles and purpose built springs if you want to go that big...

second is the front sway bar end links. its easy to forget that the sway bar needs to be perfectly parallel to the lower control arm in that slight downward angle...
i saw what must’ve been a 45-degree angled front sway bar this last weekend with bent up end links. dude had terrible body roll on the interstate trying to stay in its lane... moron..
so fabricate something if you need to, but for secure steering you need that sway bar perfect. ESPECIALLY with a lift

im amazed CA does not have safety inspections... it would totally help our traffic cause half these people would need to stay home lol
just an fyi. thanks. carry on.
