From the looks of the new one it just snaps in place but I don't want to damage the USB port when I take it out. Do you know if the wire/cable on the back of the USB port is long enough to pull through the front of the dash if I snap the old trim ring out?
Thanks!

Hey everyone this is my first post here and im hoping you guys can help me out. I bought a 1984 gmc k1500 last summer which ran fine. I went away to school and it sat without being started so when i was finally home it would not turn over. I put the battery on a charger it would not hold a charge so i replaced the battery. I let me friend hook up the new battery which he did backwards. After this it would not crank, i checked the fuses all fine, i checked if battery voltage was getting to the starter it was so now the starter is currently jumped straight from the battery. The truck cranks now but will not fire. I checked fuel which it is getting i then grounded out a spark plug wire got nothing. I took the cap off the distributor and the rotor is turning so i checked how many volts was getting to the distributor. When cranking the volts drop to about 8, 8.5 so i jumped directly from the battery to the distributor still got the same voltage. What do you think the problem is would hooking the battery backwards go all the way back enough to screw up the ignition coil or the distributor or even fry the ecu. Is the ignition switch the problem any input would be appreciated.

Hi, have had this truck since new, it's currently got 87K miles on her. 2006 Chevy Silverado LT 2500HD 4x4 8.1L Gas. It's got the OE dual battery set up. The second battery that's on the back passenger side compartment of the engine consistently leaks. I've replaced it 3 times so far, bought the first replacement set, and then returned the secondary battery under warranty twice so far, the last time about two months ago and now the new battery is leaking like a sieve. Bosch batteries from Pep Boys. I've tested the batteries while running and the front drivers side battery, which I assume is the main, is always fine at 14Volts and is perfect and never leaks. This new leaking secondary battery in the back left passenger side is reading 12 volts.

As stated earlier, I've had to replace this secondary battery 3 times so far because of leaking excessively.

The only extra hooks ups I have is a Memphis amp powering 4 door speakers and that's ran off of the front battery, which never has any issues. No other accessories hooked up to this secondary battery, no snow plows or lights, just the OE factory wiring since new.

Is this secondary battery "cooking" or something? Last time I replaced it under warranty is appeared very hot (during summer months) and appeared swollen and leaking. But never any problems with main front battery, ever, only pain in the neck back secondary battery.

I hope I've listed all pertinent info.

Does anyone have any idea what the issue could be? Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey there. Im new to this site and have seen lots of helpful info so far. Anyways, I bought a flooded 2010 Silverado with 24000 miles on it. It runs and drives, and did when I bought it. Water wasnt too high, but had to replace the wiring harness in the cab and also re-pin some corroded off wires that came off the dash wiring harness. Replaced the main block that the harnesses go into under the dash, replaced the seats and wire harnesses to the doors. Drained and services all the fluids. Now I cannot get the lights on the dash to come off. Check engine light, service 4 wheel drive, abs light, airbag light, Speedo doesnt work, temperature control blows hot on drivers side even when ac is on, but blows normal on passenger side. My buddy owns a shop and hooked up to his scan tool , he checked the lights and codes and couldnt get them to turn off. And for some reason his tool couldnt even read the vin of the truck. I have a good amount invested in this and am at a standstill now, I dont know what to do or where to start.

So I am 35 and just received my first loud exhaust ticket at 11pm on my way home from work. My Silverado has all stock piping except for the fact it has a Flowmaster Super 10 on it. When I had that installed it was not nearly as loud as I thought it would be, I was actually pretty pissed off. But then a few weeks later I had a check engine light come on and my cats were shot(plugged up). I didn't have the money to spend on new cats so I had them cut off and a pipe welded in, my performance and mileage came up dramatically!! BUT so did the noise. It isn't loud when cruising or really even getting on it, just that there is a good rap to it right around that 2000 rpm range, and that's what got me in trouble tonight, this was the first cop to EVER pull me over for any exhaust, and I have had a truck with some kind of exhaust mod on it since I was 21. So now I am stuck, I was in the process to get the truck up for sale, but also don't want to put the money into cats, so my question is if I go to a mellower muffler will it help or will the lack of cats just keep canceling it out, I was thinking of getting a Flowmaster 50 series to try and quiet it down. Or am I gonna have to bite the bullet and get the cats???????
