Just chatted with the folks at GM and they said that they're going to try to get me into the new 2014 Silverado for a review, hopefully in the next few weeks. Once I get it and start to do a review I hope to try to get everyone together in the DFW area somewhere and maybe I'll buy everyone breakfast or lunch or something on some Saturday.

I'll let everyone know when I know more. I've been around the new Silverado, and have sat it in, but being able to drive it will be pretty cool.

2008 Silverado 3500HD Duramax with less than 9,300 miles on it. Just recently the chime became barely audible which was no big deal until I tried to make a phone call and couldn't hear ON STAR either. Went to the dealer and found that both door speakers had to be replaced. $150.00 later everything is working fine but find it hard to believe that both speakers went bad with less than 9,300 on the truck and the fact that the inside of the doors have never had much exposure to rain, snow, etc. I am a very loyal Chevy owner but currently a very dissatisfied customer.

420HP and 450ft-lb of torque, that's a real stump ripper for a gas engine. GM also reports that the new Silverado equipped with this engine will tow 12,000 pounds.
Anyone wanna bet that when the 2015 F150 debuts they will claim 12,100 pounds towing?

Hey guys new on here this is the first forum that i have been part of. I have a question about towing and wanted to see if anyone else has had the same problems that i am having with my truck. I have a 2008 chevy silverado regular cab with the 4.8l v8 and i am having a problem when i tow my boat. Now this isnt a big bay boat or anything its a 16' aluminum jon boat that might weigh 1600 lbs at the most. i have noticed that when i am crusing at 70mph at about 1800rpms the truck will down shift and the rpms shoots up to 3000 rpms and this is on flat highways around the houston texas area. i have also noticed that the transmition temp goes from about 165°f to around 195°f. Is this a major problem? When i bought the truck i didnt get the towing package could this be why i am having trouble also? and the truck does the same thing when it is empty going through the texas hill country. Thanks in advance

The look of its pickup trucks is so important that General Motors put its best man on the job: the guy who does the Corvettes. Fresh from the task of designing the 2014 Stingray, Tom Peters took on the task of freshening up — and toughening up — the Chevrolet Silverado and its fraternal twin, the GMC Sierra. “A fist in the wind” is how Peters, the director of exterior design for Chevrolet trucks, full-size crossovers and performance cars, describes the pickups’ design, as reported by The New York Times.
The new G.M. trucks are not alone in looking as if they can deliver a punch. The latest full-size pickups from G.M.’s crosstown rivals, Ford and Ram, step into the ring with flattened noses, their huge, blunt grilles often slathered in bright trim. A special edition of the latest Toyota Tundra seems to have as many bars as Milwaukee, capped with a flat, wide nostril. Peters said there is a trend toward a "bigger, bolder look," The New York Times reported.
Automobile grilles have long been carefully created to reflect the image of their brands and a particular model’s place in the hierarchy, while truck grilles were comparatively bare and basic. But with trucks locked in ever-fiercer sales battles, their grilles have grown larger and more eye-catching, a modern, motorized riff on the battle shields of medieval crusaders, according to The New York Times.
After taking a hit when the economy slumped, pickup sales are on the rise again on the strength of a rebounding construction industry: Ram (previously known as Dodge Trucks) gained 49 percent in April from a year earlier, and the full-size truck sales of G.M. and Ford each rose around 24 percent. Manufacturers are scrambling to grab larger shares of this highly profitable market with tougher, more distinctive designs, the newspaper reported.

General Motors Co. signed an agreement with Nissan on May 14 to sell a small cargo vehicle in the United States and Canada called the Chevrolet City Express that Nissan will produce, according to the automakers.
GM will acquire the vehicle from Nissan to distribute through the Chevrolet dealer network. The new vehicle is based on the design of the Nissan NV200, a compact commercial vehicle already available in the U.S.
“Our fleet customers have asked us for an entry in the commercial small van segment, so this addition to the Chevrolet portfolio will strengthen our position with fleets and our commercial customers,” said Ed Peper, U.S. vice president of GM fleet and commercial sales.
The Nissan NV200 was named a winner of the International Van of the Year award. The vehicle offers low running costs, efficient engines and drivetrains, and a safety structure that minimizes crash damage, according to Nissan.
Although the price of the Chevrolet City Express has not been announced, the vehicle will be available for sale in fall 2014 to individual customers as well as fleet buyers. Nissan has been trying to aggressively find new uses for its small NV200, including it as the “taxi of tomorrow,” the mainstay of New York’s cab fleet, according to USA Today.
In creating a Chevrolet version of the NV200, Nissan solves a problem for GM. With the success of Ford’s small Transit Connect, the pressure has been on GM to find a match. By partnering with Nissan, GM cuts years of development time and expense, the publication reported.

Auction prices for full-sized pickups were up nearly 7 percent through the first four months of 2013, according to the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Used Car Guide.
“The recovery of home values and increased residential construction, stabilizing gasoline prices and a decline in late-model supply have resulted in higher trade-in values for full-sized pickups,” said Jonathan Banks, executive automotive analyst for the NADA Used Car Guide.
The average trade-in value for a three-year-old Chevrolet Silverado 1500 crew cab LT 5.3-liter, two-wheel drive is up 8 percent from last year, according to the NADA Used Car Guide. The same trend can be seen across all brands of full-sized pickups, the association noted.
Supply and demand is a key contributor to the higher values for used, full-sized pickups. The price of full-sized pickups has increased 28 percent from 2007 to 2012, and the supply of full-sized picks that are eight-years-old and older declined by 17 percent from 2007 to 2012. The association predicts the supply will decline an additional 8 percent on an annual basis in 2013.
“The late-model, used supply of full-size pickups has yet to recover from the dramatic fall-off in new-vehicle sales caused by the economic recession,” Banks said.
He noted the continued slide in supply can be attributed to demand generated by a recovering housing market. New housing starts totaled 781,000 in 2012, and the National Association of Home Builders estimates that housing starts will jump to at least 1 million units in 2013. Home prices also are up 8.7 percent over the first two months of 2013, compared to the same period a year ago, according to the S&P/Case-Shiller 20-City Composite Home Price Index.
“The increase in home prices will continue to stoke demand for full-sized pickups, particularly those in configurations most frequently used in construction applications, such as lower-priced two-wheel drive, regular-cab trucks with V-6 engines,” Banks said.
