Hey guys,
I recently bought a 17' fiberglass boat that I need to tow with my 2004 k2500 Burb. It's got 33" tires and 3.73 gears. The tires seem to hinder the truck when towing the boat. Once the tranny warms up after towing up and down hills it begins to slip between gear changes. Also, pressing the tow button doesn't seem to make any difference that I can tell?

So I've considered doing a gear swap to 4.56 gears, but it's $1700!

Want to know if I could have an issue with my torque converter, any way to test?

Would a Black Bear tune with tranny program be an option?

Thanks!

So I'm in the market for a new weight distributing hitch with sway control built in for my camper. I have a weight distributing setup right now, but I don't know what tongue weight it's rated for and it doesn't have sway control. I have no idea if I'm overweight on the hitch or not, and it's borrowed, so I want to get my own. The camper weighs in at 10K pounds, though I'm not sure what the tongue weight is. Anyone have a tongue scale they'd be willing to let me borrow to determine my tongue weight then return? Would a local camper dealer have a tongue scale? Also, what weight distributing setup should I go with? It seems that the integrated sway system is more of a defining attribute of a WD setup than the actual WD part of the hitch.

The following is a review for the TLC(Total Load Control) for a Chevy Silverado.

The product can be found here: http://www.totalloadcontrolsuspensio...50250-4-1.aspx

Disclaimer: This product was not given to me, I purchased it. I am not receiving anything in return for writing this review.

Okay now with the review.

This is the first type of airbag system I have installed/used so I do not have anything to compare it to except the stock truck.

Reason for purchase:
My wife and I recently purchased a 26 travel trailer and when hooked up to the truck I noticed it needed a little help in the rear. After doing a bit a research I decided on the TLC do to the main fact that the bags work together and not separate like most other systems.

Vehicle:
2011 Silverado 1500 4x4 Z71 package
2inch RC leveling kit in the front all other suspension is stock.

Installation:
It took less than 20 minutes per side. You remove the axle bumper from the frame and install. It’s very straight forward. They include installation instructions with pictures and a detailed breakdown. Currently I do not have an on board air compressor.
Only complaint I have for installation is the position of the right side emergency break cable, its path is right where the bracket goes.
Pictures are to follow this review.

Observation:
The ride with the TLC is like night and day, especially when I am towing. Without a trailer I inflated the airbags to 7psi, this lifted the rear of the truck less than one inch. With only 7psi it virtually eliminated body roll in the turns, and smoothed out most of the bumps even though you felt them in the front of the truck. The handling of the truck only improved and I felt like I had more control while driving.
With the trailer attached it took about 20psi to get it leveled. The ride again was night and day. When driving over bumps and pot holes the bucking (trailer bounce with ripple effect, not sure how else to describe it) was stop in it tracks. The breaking was also improved with the TLC do to the fact that more weight was shifted back to the front of the vehicle.

Overview:
I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a smoother ride, even those who do not tow or haul anything. The customer service at TLC is superb they went above and beyond what is required. I ordered the product over a holiday weekend and the following Tuesday I emailed them asking if I could get it by Thursday (I was leaving Friday morning for trip with trailer).
Vern and his lovely wife Diana offered to meet me half way and hand deliver their product to me. They are located about 3.5-4hr drive time from me. We had a nice talk and then I was on my way. Went right home and installed it that night.

In Texas along with probably a half dozen other states its legal to tripple tow.
For those not familiar with tripple towing it's simply having two trailers behind your truck.
Most tripple tow laws are similiar:
65' max combined length
max trailer length 45'
max tow bar length 15'
Any trailer over 4500lbs requires brakes
Safety chains required on trailers over 3000lb
70 mph max daytime speed for any trailers under 26' 65 mph max nightine speed
27' and up max daytime 60 mph and 55 nightime
5th wheels max daytime 60 mph and nightime 55 mph no matter length
Tow vehicle or trailer can be no wider than 8.5' and no higher than 14'
Max combined weight is 25,999 class B license required for 26,0000 and above
I regularly tow a 45' three car goose neck tripple axle trailer behind a 2005 C/C dually 4wd diesel.
Next weekend Im planning on attemting my first tripple tow with my 18' ski boat (total length 20.5') behind a 25' trailer, yea I know Im already starting out illegal by .05 buy I figute if a trooper is gung ho enough to stop and measure that close he'll find something to get me on anyways.
I was thinking about putting the boat and trailer on my car hauler but even at the back of the hauler the trailet was very close to 14', I know I'm willing to break the law by length but then worry about height? The reason for this thinking is theirs a couple low bridges on the way to the lake Im going to, one as low as 15', but the height sign is old, and looks a lot older than about two or three repavement jobs.

I know I cant back up with this rig, but my real concern is cornering.
Anyone ever tripple towed and have a few tricks or tips to share?

So we started out tent camping and now with a growing family that stinks. Can't do that anymore. So we though, "Hey, let's stick close to nature and get a tent trailer..." yeah, that lasted for about 5 minutes in a tent trailer considering it was parked next to a fiberglass-shell dual-slide image of RV excellence.

So, we're then got to thinking that we could make due with about a 18-20 foot trailer with a couple of really good slides ... then we went to a large RV dealer and go to jump in and out of about 50 different types and sizes.

Pretty sure that we're at the point now where I think we're looking at taking down a tree on the side of the yard now so we can get a trailer around the 26-foot range parked on the side of the house. Something with a couple of slides and it's going to have to have some bunks in there to give us the room that we need.

Walked into one of these bad boys today, very nice. Going to start to think about how many trips we can in a year and if we should get something used like 5-years or get new. Don't have a timeline, but we're pretty much ready to start the process.

So, I started looking at 10-foot tent trailers, moved to 16 to 18-foot trailers, then 22 then 24 and now 26-28-footers. Yep, I've got the 2-foot-itis.

I have a 99 gmc sierra, new style, and recently replaced the 6-pin trailer connector to the 7-blade connector, my mechanic hooked this all up and now i dont have any adjustment for the brakes, the brakes are just on full power, they lock up, when the brakes are applied and will not turn down the adjustment to lessen the tension on the brakes, we hooked up another controller and the same thing happened, i hooked my camper up to another truck and the brakes on the camper work fine, so it must be something in the wiring or fuse.....any thoughts? thanks all!!
