Thought maybe I'd start by sharing some specs of my motor. As you can see by the photo, I've got a K&N FIPK, and I have a Magnaflow muffler replacement. I currently get about 18-18.5 MPG with about 80/20 highway/city driving. I'll be getting my Hypertech Max Energy on Friday, so I'm hoping that MPG will climb a little. I'll post updates. What have yall done to yours, and what kind of gas mileage do you get?

What years are your trucks? Are you happy with the K/N product? Appears the engine bay is same as mine, 2002 5.3l, have check them all out but like K/N as the other trucks have 1mil mile filters. Appears not to hard to install, eh?????

Yeah mine's a 2002. Mine was actually really easy to install this time, the only thing that has ever given me a problem is that if you buy a kit with a cover, sometimes you have to almost push the whole intake right to make a secure fit. Other than that it's pretty step by step.

Mine is an '05. The K&N install was pretty easy. Taking my time, it probably took half an hour. I noticed an improvement in performance right away. Definitely worth the money. Even more worth it if you can find a deal on eBay like I did

What did you pay on EBAY? Do you remember the place you purchased from? Cost to ship?
How was the rating of the person?

In reply to JMoney's question, I got it from an individual on eBay. It was a lady selling it for her son. They posted it at $100 hoping it would go up from there, but somehow I was the only bidder. Lucky me!! It was in like new condition for $120 shipped!

Hi Ya'll my name is Amy and I'm a newbie to the group, glad to be another 5.3 owner although I miss my 6.0! I have a K & N 77 Series Intake w/ 90 mm GMPP Throttle Body off of a 7.0 LS7, along with a Hypertech PowerPac Unit for diagnostic purposes so far. I haven't really gotten into the transmission or motor yet, but hopefully this summer I will see what that HyperPac's got! Other than that I am waiting on 8 of MSD's Hot fire coils for some extra spark, they better be worth the money I paid that's all I got to say. Anyway's hello to every one, and I hope to make some more friends in the future. Later...............AMY

I just got an e-mail from Stylin Concepts about the new Supercharger kit from SLP performance, it runs $5,399 and has gains of over 125 horsepower! They have really great products I know, my cousin has a 2003 Camaro Z-28 with the 400 hp power system in his car and it flys! Hope this intrigues some of you!

Hey All! I upgraded from my '06 Silverado 4.8L to my '10 Sierra 5.3L. Have to say that I'm very happy with the bigger engine! I would have gotten it in the Silverado, but wasn't makin as much at the time, and thought I'd save some cash by stayin with the baby V-8. I have to say that I absolutely love the Variable Valve Timing on this rig, great to look down and see V-4 mode @ 99mpg!! Course that's goin down the Baker Grade in CA, but take that Prius!! So far I've only installed a Volant CAI and Magnaflow duel exhaust kit for performance. Possibly lookin at new exhaust headers later down the road, when I have the cash and info to smartly buy a set!
