On an '04, it is probably inside the door, usually they are mounted on the door mechanical assembly behind the outside handle.

It sounds like you are activating the "exit" feature.
No truck info, so I can not help with de-activating it.

NAPA gold is a wix filter . I never heard anything bad about them ,same quality as the wix labeled ones but they are the same NAPA GOLD oil filter.

Temporarily if it is absolutely necessary yes, but you won't be protecting the circuit safely.
