Do you have the copy of the additional 12/12 warranty? If it's not covered, and you paid for it, cancel the warranty and obtain a refund for the unused

If you have a DMM you can check the resistance of the ignition module, that would be the easiest way to check that..
You said something about the check engine light flashing? That is a class A misfire.. Could do some damage there.. Also, clearing the code does not solve
