Love the broke fireman discount! I've gotten lucky and had a few vendors give me a discount for being fire too. It was great! I did a number of year for two departments, one in Montana and another in (very) rural Arizona. NFA certified Incident Safety Officer. Loved it and sure miss it! I'd love to get back into it someday, but as a consultant or such. I've been thinking about putting together a consortium of talent as a consultant group to serve as an outreach to rural departments who need help with training, grant writing for equipment, etc. All at no cost, just a volunteer thing. If I could figure some way to get paid for doing it I'd be all over it, but I can't charge the client departments...every department in the country just about is dead broke.
I gotta see if this forum will email me when I get messages! ~LOL~
Good deal on the pump, crappy deal on the regulator!!!
What is the upgrade kit? Does ours not have the spider injector system now?
Mine is running great. I cut a hatch in my back deck so the next time will be a LOT easier. I was ticked when I got my old pump out...it was covered in dirt! Looked like someone had dropped it on the shop floor and didn't bother to clean it. The lock ring and gasket were fine, no dirt on the tank, but all down inside the pump and the fuel cup! I checked the tank and it was still nice and clean, so I guess all is well...
well, i guess we are both late to looking at our posts. haha.. I got my fuel pump from a dealer in town and charged me about half retail! They game me the " I'm a broke fireman" discount!!! lol I changed i out and it ran like a champ!!! Until a few days ago and started having starting issues again! Talk about PISSED! Checked my fuel pressure and it is fine! So my mechanic buddy of mine told me to look through the throttle body and see if it looked wet, and it did in spots. which he said is from the pressure regulator. So NOW, im in the market for the spider injector upgrade kit which retails for 640ish. I called the same dealer and they will sell it to me for 480, however, I have found one on ebay from a dealer in florida, that is selling them (new gm part, not aftermarket), for 365 with 12 shipping and NO TAX. so I may be going that route.
Thanks for responding, I don't care how long it took, I mean hey, we are in the same boat! hahahhah!!!
Good luck with your truck
Hi, I was reading your issues with your truck and I'll be damned if I dont have the same issues! I found that I have to turn the key on and off about 3 times and it will start fine. And if I run it for a while, it will start right up. But if it sits for a while, 3 times on the key!!
I also have experienced the "no-dice" on wot acceleration from a dead stop, at least thats when it is the worst. But it has been an off and on problem. I went to a transmission guy today and he said it wasnt from the trans. I DO have a problem with it though, as it started shifting or slamming into gear...but that only happened once, and he said it was in the valve body and wouldnt need a complete rebuild. And it really pissed me off that it didn't "fall on it's face" while he was checking it out! Thats the way it always is!!!! CAN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE when its in the shop!
Anyway, I was wondering if you ever found the solution to your problem? I am really anxious to know!!!!!
Hi, and welcome to the site! Glad to have you!
