Seems like I heard the media making a big stink about depleted uranium after the first Gulf War. Any way, you are right. There is not a lot of armor plate on a camel!
Saw your reply in the "career" post. Thank you for serving. That A-10 is low and slow. But add to that old, they were on active duty before I joined and left the Air Force (85 ~ 90); and bad-ass deadly. If memory serves me correctly they were slated for the bone yard when the first gulf war came about. After seeing the A-10's cannon chew up Soviet built Iraqi tanks they changed their minds!
I always heard that the depleted uranium round had enough energy to penetrate the armor and once inside it could ricochet about enough to simulate a blender. Is that true?
