  1. I''ve removed the old wooden bed from my '64 Chevy C10 longbed. It has coil springs, shocks and what I think is called an "Auxiliary Leaf Spring". It's a short leaf spring attached to the frame near the bumper and extending forward over the axle. There is a bolt on the spring at the axle end but noting attached. There is also nothing on the axle for the spring to ride on except the axle itself. The springs end the same way on both sides of the truck.

    Question: am I missing part of the spring? Shouldn't the spring ride on some sort of rubber or metal/rubber bracket?

    There is a photo of this in my album. Any help would be appreciated.
