Yeah and im not going to shy away from anything i pay $40 for my tag and like to be able to get $40 in meat darnit! Last year was bad though i hit a 6 pointer with my Truck the day after opener driving to my land. The darn thing did nearly $5K in damage to my 2008 F-150 supercrew, got up and ran off. I slamed it into reverse and missed it by a hair with the reciever. We did try to find it since i knew it was going to die, but it just hid out somewhere! Then my insurance got to replace the pass side door, and pass rear door, and rear box panel, tail light. Since he actually hit me. but i hope to do well this year since the deer are active and we had a mellow winter last year and a great summer. So time will tell. ive still gotta get my camper geared up, and also get some prep work done but all in all im looking forward to some time in a stand relaxing and not being at work! and hopefully we get a little snow this year during season, and i want 10Ft the week after for snowmobiling!!! HA

Yeah well i worked on my blazer for 2 days and did a water pump in my buddies 96 Z71 all in those two days. I ended up replacing the Fuel Pump module and the pass front wheel bearing, as well as the cat converter. IT was in a million pieces and rattling and irritating me so it had to be done. Im not really a trophy guy. I use the mantra "its brown its down" since last year was actually the first time that i shot a deer and it was a whoooping 115lbs dressed... But it tasted awsome HAHAHA!

HAHA.. I moved back up from Ga after the army med retired me even though one of the contractors had offered me a job working a desk for $28 and hour because i wanted to be able to do all the things that we do up here... And i snowmobile and ice fish during the winter (usually alot more snowmobiling that fishing)
BUt tomorrow im doing a Sending unit/fuel pump and a Front hub on my new to me 2000 S-10 blazer.. So my one day off is spent working on the truck, and if i get done on time i get to go to Menards and get a window for the living room... Gotta love the honey doo lists....

Well the only issue with the bear permits i dont think MN really gives out any non-resident tags. But i may be wrong i havent really started into it yet. And i dont run all over. I have 80 acers that i Hunt for Deer about 20 miles from my house (my moms house and where all of my toys stay so the camper is already set up there for a deer shack) and for Bear i have 40acers that another family member has thats about 20 miles the other way and in the past we have had 400plus pound black bears comming in to feed! And i Grouse hunt, im not a big goose or Duck fan, and Turkey isnt my flavor either.. But trout fishing couldnt be a better place since im about 20 miles from some of the best trout streams in the country, and then theres Lake superior and the landing is about 5 miles from my house.. Not really bragging just giving you a picture of how little driving i have to do to get where i want to.

HAHA.. yeah the job market really isnt as bad.. We actually have the 9th lowest unemployment rate in the country at 6.8% which is not great but not bad either....
And the hunting is based one where you live and what you hunt.. Next year im going to start using my Veterans Preference to get a Bear license and try to get one yearly since they are by lottery after that.
The deer hunting is all where you are as well. Last year was my first year hunting deer since i joined the army so young.. And i got 1 Button buck (hey my first deer and it tasted GREAT!) and i shot the brisket out of a 6 pointer, and totally missed a Spike. (i was hunting with a shot gun since it was a Shot gun only area) and black powder is great as well. But northern MN is way different from southern MN, Southern MN they hunt turkey etc, and we hunt grouse and Duck.. Then Deer!

The place that we go really isnt wheeling it is more a beaten path, and we park the trucks and just fish and shoot the breeze.. Usually the cats are pretty active about 2 hours before dark till about an hour after dark. And the small mouth bass are always hitting... So good fishing and good company, makes for a relaxing time.

We go sometimes and sit in our chairs and grill some steak and just chill out while attemting to catch some cats... WE have a great -place to bring our 4wds in and all our stuff and have a good time.
