I pulled a 24' enclosed trailer with a full weight Buick Skylark race car, tools, equipment etc with my old 1/2 ton truck. Pulled trailers probably 50,000 miles with it. Sold the truck with 140,000 on it. Changed the oil, air cleaner, etc. Never even changed the plugs.
Sure, a 3/4 ton would have pulled it better, but 70-75 was as fast as I needed to go.
Glad yours handled the trip well.
done properly even a half ton can pull a fair amount. just cant get stupid with it. electric brakes on the trailer, and good brakes on the truck are the important bits. a properly maintained vehicle is key.
I had no issues pulling my sons 79 ford pickup on a trailer over 300 miles. My chevy handled it just fine. Just use common sense and remember to accommodate extra space for corners. Backing will be the fun part. Make sure all lights are hooked up correctly and use the security chains .
I should have indicated that my "old truck" was a 2009 Chevy crew cab with the 5.3. Not that old I guess, but I no longer have it. I went 9 years older for my "new" truck.
