If you do have to crack the line, then you should do a full replacement of orifice tube, accumulator, compressor and rings. Better safe than sorry.
Condensor may not be a bad idea also.....but if...

And seeing as how you have had some work done recently with this truck.
I would go through and verify your grounding wires.
There should be one around the front of the air intake manifold is, up by...

Came across this:
The ESC sits by the TBI, probably about $80 - $100
You can try this:
Measure the resistance from one of the terminals and the bottom...
Yes, but it will tell you that there is something in the system....so you can conclude that there is not a leak or a big one at least.
Now once the compressor is turned on, and running.....then...

Sounds like a fuel pump to me also.
Or perhaps a loose ground, if you have done any work recently around the fuel pump assembly.
No did not do cut and paste.
Just used the editor that is part of the forum using IE 8
I did push the enter key a couple times....to break up my thoughts some what......so that is probably what...
Ok, follow up on this guy.
Finally had a chance to get out and see what was going on. The code, was actually code 4, not 31....I misread how you read the ABS flashes.
I had thought my mastery...
That is so true
Check the bracket mounting bolts for the accessory bracket that the compressor sits in.
I was missing a bolt and it caused a lot of vibration when A/C was on, and thus made an awful racket.
Yep, A/C is working fine now.
Running quiet, even at a stop or idle.
So the one bolt was the problem, now a few hundred dollars down the toilet when a $2 bolt was all that was needed.
It was a...

Glad to help.
You can get a volt-meter and test your TPS.
You will just need to get some sort of probe that you can stick down where the wires connect on him...
I used a straight pin for mine,...
Looks like my problem may have been a mounting bolt that was missing.
My Drive Belt Accessory Bracket was missing a bolt that sat below the compressor...
Got one from AutoZone and stuck it...
I think I will try the fan clutch and see...
I hate to evac the system again so soon after having just charged it. :(
Not to mention getting to that stupid evaporator.
If it is the Black Death...Wouldn't the noise being present at all times the A/C is on.....When the engine temp is cold, when it is warm, when it is at idle, when it is at 50 MPH???
Yeah, A/C off, all is quiet.
Hmm....I guess it could be something in the evaporator, but man I blew through the system for a while and never saw anything...
Even before I put all the new stuff...
Haven't heard of that one.
I have seen where the dims will not come on, but other lights do...
Or all lights come on, but not the dash board lights....
Replaced the switch and it fixed the...
You are correct, the evaporator I did not replace.
But I don't believe I have a blockage because I can take my air compressor and blow in the compressor hose assembly (either high or low side) and...
Any details on the "car" you can give?
Year, model, mileage, recent work done.....any other things??
Have you checked the battery?? and its connections for corrosion??
Maybe the start is going...

As Ethan said, check grounds first.
Easier too do...and it will cause you ignition and timing problems if the ground is loose.
He is the ground for your ECM.....so if he is acting up, so will your...
Go back about 3 posts. ;)
I just rebuilt the entire thing.
I think it may be the fan...
I turned on the truck and A/C....while the engine was cool (below 200) everything sounded...
Man that is a great idea, I didn't even think of that.....
I was initially thinking it was heat related....
Which it may very well be....on my truck they installed a transmission cooler that...
I would also look in the area of a leak.
If the clutch does not engage, then it is probably low or out of freon.
Keep in mind that if you replace a compressor, you may want to go ahead replace...
How much freon did you add back in??
Sounds to me like your short some.
If the line is freezing up, or the clutch doesn't engage (until it has sat for a while), then sounds like you are low.
Based on what you wrote, I would say look for broken wires, wires where the shielding has worn down, or any kind of corrosion build up....
Corrosion can cause an inverse result....
So ramping up in...
After you did the accumulator, did you vacuum and re-charge they system??
Sounds to me like there is no freon in the system
