I just wanted to post this fix,
I have a 5.7 it was sitting for a while, couple of years maybe, and the poppets were certainly gummy.
It was hesitating off the line and would sometimes back fire....
Easy, Drop the pan and it's right there.
I would drop the pan and let it sit awhile so the fluid doesn't drip all over you while you work.
Few hours? on a lift it would take a few minutes to do...
I agree does sound like valve seals. on a 92 they would be dried up and cracked a bit.
I wouldn't worry about it, just keep a couple qts of oil behind the seat.
replaced the Cap and rotor and ign coil with AC DELCO and it's almost gone.

Could be a fuel reg going bad. They can be intermittent.
So can fuel pumps and you need full pressure, not enough to just hear it working. They can also do the intermittent thing.
