The rope idea sounds good, i am familiar with this product and i think its going to work fine. I'm not however sure it will stay in place as well as the expanding foam sujested earlier in the forum. ...

The clunking feel is caused by the slack in the spline in the intermediate shaft. Because it is in the mid section of the column the feel is transfered to the steering wheel through the upper part of...
the bearing can also cause a similar knock feeling to the steering as mentioned in earlier posts. Problem is until the spline issue is deemed to not be the issue there really is no way to tell,...
Don't forget as mentioned in the beginning, after putting a few miles on if the clunk feels like it is still there slightly, it may be nessesary to top off the grease with a few more punps of the...
I did reply to your post Daredevil. In my reply #86, second paragraph, skinner
Sticky: New shaft
I have not heard of the new shaft replacement having the same feel immediately after replacement, usually takes a bit of use before the issue appears again.
It is possible however that the...
Sticky: No Problem
Just go to your local auto parts store or even hardware store and get a fitting to fit the size you taped. should be no problem. I would do this before drilling another hole, every hole you drill...

I would take a look at the bfg t/a all terrain, i'm using them in ontario canada. they are pretty quiet, they wear well and have excellent all around traction in most conditions.
I'm happy with...

Update,my above quote is incorrect. I do not mention renoving bolts, but i do mention disconnecting the shaft to plug it, therefore removing bolts. My appologies. You can use foam from the bottom at...
My 1997 gm z71 has a real problem with the steering.
It feels so light on the steering wheel that it feels like theres no steering at times.
I know its a power assist problem but i'm lost at this...
This is a good idea ptfeman.
This will stop any grease from entering the lower shaft therefore restricting the amount of grease needed to about 1/4 .
using the foam in the top (or rtv sealant) of...

Besides, my last truck was a 93 2500extcab 4x4, 380,000 on it when i retired it and no steering...
Be sure you know that there is nothing else causing this noise cause there are a few out there who have been fooled. If this fix doesnt make the noise go away then likeky there is another issue.
Sounds like you have another issue.
check the bearings in the upper part of the column, the u-joint on the lower end and even the steeringbox freeplay. if its too large it can produce a similar...
When i started this repair system, i never plugged the bottom cause i did not know it was hollow and not capped so what i did is when the grease started coming out the bottom, i packed a rag into the...

How much is a lot aero.
When i did mine i put about 3/4 of a tube of grease in the first time, it started to rattle slightly after about 1-2 weeks. I then pumped more in until some grease came out...
Sorry, you are right. I guess because the hd truck is already higher than the 1500 the only height adjustment for you is the leveling keys.
The only way to go up for you is to go to full lift kits...
The shocks at Rough Country are matched for the vehical you are ordering it for.
The HD models have their own kits listed. If you need more info about shocks etc. call their cust service line, they...
I know but sometimes it won't get used for quite a while so i like to run the driveshaft u-joints and bearings a bit longer to get the grease movin so they don't get stiff. The truck gets lots of...
