Well, I am the only driver. But, even now, I'm finding the passenger side mirror is always being "readjusted" often by passing persons. And, realigning the passenger mirror by one's self is a...
Was looking for replacement side rearview mirrors for my 1991 C1500 and the thought occurred to me to upgrade to electric versions. So, the question would be if it's an easy thing to do?Would the...
I need to install an new antenna base at the fender well.
This is to replace a cut cable at the radio end, which I just discovered to be taped together.
Anyway, after looking it over thoroughly,...
It could be as simple as the hills being mostly down going, and up coming back.
But, I have considered that and felt it to be pretty much an equal situation both ways.
Since then, though, I do...
Conceptually, I'm a fan of getting more back to stock than customizing in most ways.
If the engine ran like OEM, I'd be perfectly happy. In most ways, it does. Just that aged...
Over the past year, it's gotten a Distributor, cap, rotor, wires, plugs, oil change, oil filter, air filter. No throttle body work at all.
Can it be cleaned in place, or are you speaking of a...
Just looking for ideas here.
Can't complain, the truck's really been running good, stable.
Even getting something around 20mpg. It's become my daily driver to-from work an hour away.
Just to update, I finally resolved this problem with the hot wheel.
It remained an issued with the brake dragging, wearing and producing heat.
After replacing the pads and caliper, the problem...
O.K., I've changed the caliper now and still have a hot wheel.
Was going to just do a piston kit, but the whole caliper was only $16.00, so did that instead.
Anyway, after the first lengthy...
That sounds about right, caliper piston.
I, too, have a Kawasaki that did that last year, so not unfamiliar.
I'll check it out.
Just thought I'd post here first since it caught me...
A few weeks ago, my right front wheel started making noise.
It was a metal-to-metal type grind, obviously a brake issue.
When I opened it up, sure enough, the pads were down to the metal.
Was out driving around most the afternoon in 104-deg heat with 60% humidity. Hot for sure.
A lot of stop-n-go driving, waiting in lines at bank, etc. A/C going full blast the whole time.
I went to a shop today to check on an alignment.
They said they could do it but needed an appointment for next week sometime.
BUT, he also said if the truck has never been aligned before, the...
OK, false alarm. Discovered it fell off some equipment I carried.
Appears it's not a part of the truck at all.
Having trouble finding a place for this to go.
Anyone know what it is, and where it goes?
Anyone have, or can point a link to, a MAP of the Fuse Box at the lower-left of the steering column. (1991 C1500 S/W V6-2.4L, 2WD, 5-sp)Mine has some spots where the text is unreadable.
Had to hit three yards this morning to find one. Seems the 88-91 version is more rare.
Anyway, got it and with frequent cooling breaks (96-degs/60% humid), got it in, along
with the new rotor, cap...
Say, can anyone confirm if the '92-95 V-6 Vortec distributor will match my '91 non-vortec?
Also, would one from a '92 S-10 Tahoe (V-6) be the same?
Look what I found when I went to change the rotor.
These pieces swept out when I brushed the pile of rust dust away from the base of the distributor.
... look kind of important, don't...
Thanks for the reply, MurDog,
Didn't mention this is a FI motor, but has what looks like a "normal" carb with the injectors inserted.
Would it still have a Idle Air Control Valve (IAC)?
I drove my truck about 10 miles the other evening without stopping.About 2/3 way, the thing started to die at stop lights and becomes harder to start.Limped home that way, with it trying to die at...
Lately, I've been having a little trouble keeping my truck running.
It starts and runs great. But, after a half hour (fully warm) of City driving, it starts to want gag and jerk at low...
I'm new to my Chevy, truck and the engines they use.
BUT, most fuel systems are 'closed'. That is, entirely a loop circuit.
Which means they are pressurized. Fuel delivery is via the pump
I've a door, driver's side, which is only slightly out of adjustment. Like someone had it off once and put it back on almost right. It works pretty well, but is just enough of a tug to be annoying.
Thanks dirtplay, you probably saved me a lot of anquish, and some cash as well.
At least now I know what to look for.
Seems odd to waste all that modular design, then change plugs, though....
