Swapped out the booster yesterday, fixed the problem(s)! Thanks!
I've got the ABS light kicking on and off though...will need to diagnose that...
Also, removing the 4 bolts off the firewall...

Doh. Is that something I should leave to a pro, or is it a DIY job? (I'd say I'm "medium" in DIY skills/tools)

I've noticed my brakes don't really engage until I get more than halfway down on the pedal...
I've also noticed when trying to brake fast/hard, it's rather difficult.
Recently when at a stop...
I have a few threads posted; I was in the same boat. My burb was sitting for 3 yrs, and has 350k on the motor. Runs like a champ now!
I've discovered my A/C is not working.
Has anyone done the conversion to 134a? Any gotchas? I saw "kits" at Oreilly's...

Just to wrap things up, put in new fuel pump and all's well again! thanks for all your help.
good lookin! seems like the body's in great shape
Got the new pump in. For some reason Oreily's didn't have a 93 in their computer, but pulling up a 94 showed the right parts.
Got everything in and put back together, new psi read right at 15,...
Well, after all the troubleshooting here:
Narrowed it down to a funked...

Hooked up a fuel pressure sensor last night, tapped into the line between the fuel filter and the engine. It was barely moving the guage. Both when "priming", and after startup during revving.

Got a little more info for what it's worth:
I revved it while a friend was shooting carb cleaner around... When shooting it directly into the throttle body, it revved normally, and even idled...

Correct. Where would the switch be?
Dist - that's what I hear...just nervous about it I guess...

By revving it, I mean...like when you're a teenager at a stoplight wanting to race the car next to you ;-) pumping the gas about once every half second or second. That keeps it going...

Replaced MAP sensor, Temp sensor, and Ignition module tonight with no luck. Didn't do pick up coil because it looks like it requires removal of distributer...and I don't want to risk throwing timing...

that (ignition module) seems like it'll be easier to try than the pick up coil...will give it a shot. wish me luck!

looking at the repair manual, I see an "ignition module" and a "pick up coil"...the coil thing is the one I want right? And I have to remove the cap and rotor to get to it? (is it the thing that...

yes, truck will run if I throttle gas in and out...if I hold it steady, it won't stay running, but "revving" it keeps it running, and I gotta rev it fairly high too (>2500 rpm or so).
08-29-2010, 08:10 PM
sorry, the T one was where you "splice" into some rubber lines; the only rubber part I saw was between the filter and the engine as it rose up from the frame to the hard line that goes to the...

I went to oreilly's and auto zone, and the only fuel pressure testers they had were either for cars w/ a valve on the lines to hook up to (which I don't think mine has), or one that you gotta T into,...

Something I noticed today messing around (haven't figured out how to test fuel pressure yet) is that there seems to be abnormally loud "sucking" coming from the throttle body. It may be normal, but...

fuel filter is new...coil wire is snug (that's the one to the center of the cap right?)
will see if I can get fuel pressure checked...and fuel pump will be next stab. thanks!

no prob...I appreciate your help!
no it won't start unless I'm giving it gas while cranking...and it runs rough when I do that.
when I let off the gas, it acts like it's trying, then finally...

Tank is full, just filled it up w/ 40 gals fresh last week. Less than 10 or 15 miles on it, plus the idling/testing in the driveway. guage is still showing past full
