Well she's gone. Off to a new home further up north. At least I wont have to watch her run around town with someone new.
It's been a tough year so far. My mother passed away, then my cat, then my...
Smart move. Good looking truck.
Call them, and have your VIN handy. It will tell them exactly which block goes into your truck. I called them, very helpful, but the local GM dealer was cheaper when the core return was factored in. ...
Not necessary. It's not the cost. It's the throwing good money after bad.
It's go time though. Now that I know a motor is an option, the motor or replacement vehicle decision will be made...
The shop wants 1500 for the swap. GM quoted 3743.00 for a reman, 300 back for core. I also called several internet sites, all were more. At least with GM I can drop off the core when I pick up the...
There's probably other causes, but every one I've seen is from a bent frame. They tend to go through rear tires, bearings etc, too.
Any around here have had saltwater run through them.
What he said.
What I was looking at is an 06 Unlimited Rubicon. Oddly enough I hear those motors are equally rare since the Chrysler BK. At any rate, that car doesn't look like an option.
The truck is a...
I've read some guys have gone that route. Honestly, this truck NEEDS the 454. If there was a 554, I'd buy it!
A fantastic question. At this point we do not know exactly.
It had a bad miss. They found very low compression in #2. Pulled the manifold etc. off, and found broken lifters. They suspect the cam...
The 5k is ballpark from the shop. Historically his ballpark is on the high side and the bill is less. However, he's telling me we may not be able to find a motor. I say "but they are all over the...
Regarding the unknown problems. That is a valid point, but it applies to all non-new components on the burb as well. And there is a short list of 'knowns' too. I look at it like this, fixing the burb...
Here's what it's boiling down to for me. If I throw another 5k(+) at it. I'll have a truck that I'll likely only be able to sell for little more than the cost of that motor.
The replacement will...
What I thought was bad gas, is far from it. The shop got the motor pulled apart and it's surprising the thing ran as well as it did.
It'll need a new motor and I'm not willing to make that leap.

Just got the call. #2 has very low compression, and now we know the ugly truth.
So go with stock? Something with a little more punch?
Anything to avoid?
Or is this potentially expensive...
It looks good underneath.

If it's a general shaking, I'd be looking at wheels too.

Not good. Compression in #2 very low. Taking a valve cover off today to see what we can see.

Yeah, I figured injector at first, but now I'm thinking it's spark since the gas is getting pushed on down the line.
Had the intake manifold gasket done a month ago, and I asked if they thought...

Well it's not bad fuel. Changed the gas filter and while it was off I pumped out half the tank. Started it up and ran some Seafoam down the intake. Noticed a small puddle of what I assumed was water...

From what I'm reading, it's possible to syphon most of the fuel out. I'm going to get some different fuel in her and see what happens.
If that doesn't do it then it's off to the...

Shell. But it's a station in town that doesn't get as much traffic as the others. I'm guessing that, plus it's higher octane, means it's probably been sitting in the ground a lot longer than the less...

Here ya go. It's a piece of cake. The video producer seems to be the cheapest place to pick up those door actuators too.

The other day a friend put 30 gallons of "the good stuff" in my tank. The one time I've put in Supreme, it got an occasional miss and ran slightly rough, so I stay away from it.
The next morning...
