The connector where it enters the carbon trap doesn't seem to be really tight (I can wiggle it, anyway), but it doesn't pull up or off.
Hey gang - Any input on some weird codes my 99 Suburban is throwing?
P1441 - Evaporative Emission System Flow during non-purge
P0446 - PCM has determined that a malfunction exists...
Well - heck. I guess the wires go in from above....
It is a 2wd, so does that possibly make it easier?

So, after all the ice and snow here in Oklahoma, my wife noticed the Suburban leaking something.
Looks like transmission fluid - clearish and oily....

So, it finally hit me that since I can find just about anything on Ebay, I'd sure like to have some service manuals for my vehicles.
Found a manual for the '96 Windstar as well as a manual for the...

Here's an intersting worry....
Recently, my suburban (99, 5.7, 2wd, 148k) would not start in the morning. A jump fired it right up and it would run and restart all day.
So - that night I...
So a buddy of mine has an 02 Suburban, and he's noticed something that I thought I would ask about....
Asking about the whole regular oil vs synthetic issue, he mentioned that his Suburban seems...

A followup thought regarding this issue -
My brother in law (a Ford tech) mentioned that the blower motor resistor may have been the reason the switch heated up and failed in the first place. If...

Okay, so in hindsight - here's what happened.
Apparently, the switch began to fail and heat up. One pin (goes to a black wire on the side where there are open spaces) had heated to the...

Yeah, that's kinda what I wound up having to do.... Driving the ratchet from the very end of the handle was a pain, but possible. (I did find a ratchet that has a spinner on the end of the handle -...

I will see if I can post some pix....
The small board attached to the top of the air box is what I am trying to replace. Two screws, one connector. The problem I'm running into is that just in...

Regarding varmints -
My last car ('92 Taurus wagon) had some unusual occupants in the engine at one time....
I discovered acorns in the air cleaner box after I bought it, and would...

Yeah, me too....
To try to avoid pulling the airbag system, I thought that maybe I could get to the two bolts holding it in and work it out of the 3" gap between the airbag bracket and the...

Yep - you're right. I picked up the part at the local dealership (~$25) and they printed something off their parts computer showing where it is and it's right behind the glovebox on the left right...

Thanks Gary! That info certainly helps!
A little more info - at lunch today it was doing with or without the AC. I couldn't force it to happen, wiggling the switch didn't make any difference. ...

Here's an interesting one....
So we took our our "new" 99 Suburban on the family's first "road trip" in it down to Oklahoma City over the weekend. Only 120 miles one way, but it was out of...

It may be one of those urban legend kind of estimations, but I've heard that an average AC system (home or car) should be able to cool between 25-30 degrees from outside temps.
With the 100+ temps...

That's the one thing that kind of disappointed me when we got this one - There wasn't a manual.... I'm a book kinda guy and need to read!
I found one on Ebay, so that's been rectified...

Yeah - that makes sense! Thanks '84!
This is my first vehicle that has something more than "idiot lights", so of course I'm diggin all the new stuff!

I noticed that my 99 2wd 5.7 with 145k has quite a range for oil pressure....
At times, it seems to ride down in the 20s (the guage shows a range from 0 to 40 in the middle to 80 at the top), and...
Hey all - I'm new to the Suburban world!
So, I just got a '99 C1500 with the 5.7L engine. It has 145k on it, but looks like new. It runs great, fluids are all clean and clear, all I found that...
