Well, I have a 2005 Yukon that's in for front diff service now. When accelerating in 4 hi or auto 4x4, it will make a bit of a moaning and grinding noise. No noises in 2wd.
Yep. That's the standard engine. 5.3s are far more common however. I have a 5.3 in my '05 Yukon (SLT 4x4) and my grandparents have a 4.8 in their '04 Tahoe (LS 4x2.)
