For me the best way to learn things is to put my hands on it. I have been in the same situation where I thought I was over my head. But, once I found someone who could come and show me where I went wrong I realized I wasn't that far off. And yes I have had to ask for "help" from a professional. The few times that has happened I spoke with the guy fixing my screw up I gained some knowledge that way also.

Got the news $960 for the work and labor. They said hey will check for any other leaks once the truck has oil back in it.

Rear main and oil pan from what I could tell. The top of the bell housing was dry and clean no leaks.
