    Default 97 Suburban Hard Starting

Hi im new here and i searched as much as I could but i cant figure out the problem. I have a 97 suburban 5.7 with 179,xxx on it and the motor has spark and fuel but wont turn over. I just purchased a new battery and had it tested and it checked out o.k. I changed the plugs and wires and still nothing. I took of the starter and got it bench tested, that was fine. It all started about two weeks ago when it got hard to start, and i noticed i was almost on E and I went to fill up and the problem still persisted then finally went away. then the in the following weeks it hit hard and wont start. the car turns over at a normal pace then slows down and almost stops turning over then speeds up again. And the connections seem ok im soooooo sooooo stuck . I would appreciate the help thanks!

Could be that the fuel pump is clogged and not feeing any fuel or enough fuel.

I wasn't clear on this. What kind of hard start is it: the kind where the starter seems to have a hard time spinning the engine, or is the kind where the starter does just fine, but the engine takes longer than usual (or multiple tries) to run on its own.

the motor cranks very slow. it starts fast like normal then just all of a sudden stops and hesitates for a second the starts to crank again and all the interior light pulse to the crank of the motor. I thought low compression was an issue but its reading 150. and i checked for codes and everything passed

Check for corrosion on the starter cables and at starter connections, also check the cables for internal corrosion in the cable between the battery and the starter.

Like TB said!!. And ask the person that checked out the started, did they pull the relay disk out and check for corrosion(sp). I take it off and steel brush wheel on it, and clean up the back side of those bolts and slap it together. It should be more consistant on it's starts. let us know. I got money on it.( a dime and two nickels).

Do you mean that the truck will crank (turn over) but won't start?
