I am thinking about getting this for winter weather driving:

Hi, Welcome to the club.
That's a nice reliable truck. I once had an 87 that I sold with 300k miles, and still running strong. Only repairs were transmission and transfer case rebuild at 200K. If the price is right for your area, go for it. Have a mechanic check it out first.

You really have to test drive it. Just looking at pictures, listing.... doesn't really tell you much.
Tranny usually need work around 170K for that suburban. Other than that, most are easy DIY.
I enjoyed my 88 (185K miles) until a couple weeks ago (tranny problem :() I could have spend $ to get it back but wife said... you know how the story go.
