Default MPG for new 2500HD Crew Cab 4x4?

I recently purchased a 2013 2500HD 4x4 and wunder what kind of mileage I can expect from it. I will occasionally tow a bumper pull toyhauler in the 6k to 6.5k weight range.

My 04 2500HD 4x4 6.0L gets about 11.5mpg combined city/highway on mud tires and 12.5mpg combined city/highway on street tires. Towing my 5500lb pontoon I get about 8.0mpg with the mud tires.
Remember, your mpg is very much based upon your driving style.

It depends on driving style...I got 16mpg on my first trip with the cruise set around 65mph. 2012 2500HD CrewCab 6.0L 3.73s. I think we average around 15mpg highway? And that's driving from SE Pennsylvania to NW Pennsylvania across the "mountains".

Personally, I could see getting 20mpg out of this truck with the right tires and driving style. These Duravis tires roll extremely hard...I had a set of Pirelli STRa that rolled a lot easier, and I bet it would make a big difference.

Seeing these real life examples make me want to go with the durmax when I replace my truck with a 2500 HD. the mpg's on the Dmax are allot higher.

let me clarify..... 6.0L gas worst case so far 8mpg........ a Dmax under load 18mpg...... no load about 22-24mpg.

As far as I knew, none of the current big three diesel offerings were getting great mileage anymore, thanks to all the emissions. Don't forget to factor in DEF and the extra cost for diesel (which is $0.40 more per gallon than unleaded near me)...and the extra cost for maintenance.

It all depends on the end use...I don't use mine everyday, so even 5mpg wouldn't bother me.

And yes, I owned a diesel for the last 15 years, put 600k miles on the last three I owned...so I know them.
