Towing question with new 2500 HD 4x4
Just a question regarding towing with the 2500HD 4x4. I had a 2006 Dodge Cummins dually and never bothered with an equalizing hitch for my 24' toyhauler that weighs around 6.5k loaded. Would it be a good idea to use an equalizing hitch with the 2500HD? I am running the 6.0 standard bed with 3.73 gears. My guess is with the single rear wheels it would probably handle better with the equalizing hitch. If I go with that setup, any recommendations on brand?2013 Silverado 2500HD LT Std Bed 4x4, 6.0 Vortec, 3.73 axle, Graystone Metallic

I think your right, the equalizing hitch would probably give you better handing. Rule of thumb, the tongue weight should be 10% of total weight, if so, you have 650 lbs on the ass end of the truck. That may be enough weight to over-squat the rear. Your probably on the border of needing one.Ray

So my travel trailer ways about 7500# and I use the Equalizer hitch with built in sway control. Like it and it works well... Good idea to use the weight distribution you distribute the weight more effectively across the front and rear axles of the truck. You could actually cause wearing of the front axle tires and cause feathering of the tires...
