original owner Oct 1997. $38K, now 2012 at 160K miles.
Good reliable truck. Great people capacity. Good towing capacity, comfortable road ride. Expensive to operate re: fuel costs.
Bad - hard on brakes & tires, intake manifold gasket is a maintenance item ~ 85K miles, fuel pump is also a maintenance item - watch the inline fuel filter / replace annually, when you replace the fule pump first time cut an access panel in the floor of the cargo area which will simplify access for future replacement w/o dropping the fuel tank.
Added mud guards front and rear to save rocker panels.
Tidy'd up trailer light connector w/ wiring box mounted to bumper.
Halogen buck up light bulbs - still not bright enough. Better to put external back-up lights on.
K&N air filter. breathes a little easier.
stock - bilsteins. Still rolling fine @ 160K miles.
discovered used tires. I'll never buy another $1,000 set of new Michelins again. Make sure you get minimum load range "D" (8 ply) tires. E's better - 10 ply may have rougher ride. D's have been fine for me. C's are gone in 30-40K miles.
