    Angry 5.3 engine knock

    I have a 2001 silverado with a 5.3. When starting with cold engine, after about 10 sec it starts to knock. It continues for about 30 sec, never to be heard again until the next cold start. Not a lifter tick. Gets louder when put in gear (auto trans). Any ideas?

    Welcome to the site!
    My Wife's 2001 Suburban 5.3 has the same prob. and I know we have had other discussions on here about it common with most 5.3's. Maybe someone can find some of those threads for us?

    dealership found 2 plugs loose and the knocking went away

    that knocking drives me nuts now i got a bearing noise when the truck is cold
