2004 Yukon XL 2500 8.1L -- Hydroboost Failure
While making a sharp turn at low speed, the power steering and brakes went out. After a little research, I am sure the Hydroboost pump failed. There was no noise, no leaking fluid, no warning at all. I called GMC and they told me that my vehicle was not covered in the recall for this part. Any suggestions? I live on an island in rural Alaska. The nearest GMC dealership is 800 miles away, and the only way to get there is by a 3-day ferry trip. I am having trouble finding the part on-line.

You mean the power steering pump? Rock auto's got your choice of Atsco or AC Delco for around $100. It takes a special tool to move the pulley from the old pump to the new pump without breaking it so be sure you have that angle covered, something like this: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1121415Minneapolis area - 1997 K2500 regular cab long bed + 8.5' Western Unimount plow + modified transmission + 2nd battery + modified camper charge circuit + 1971 Cayo camper -and- 2004 4x4 Suburban 2500 8.1 + Maxbrake controller + 2nd battery + modified trailer charge circuit + Reese receiver, pulls 30' Airstream trailer

Welcome to The Club. Buying online would seem like your best bet. Keep us informed, I have the same vehicle.
