Default '08 Sierra water damage, is it totaled?

I drove the front end of my truck into a pond on some property i was on last night, how bad is this and what all might have to be replaced? Also in the long run of the truck how will this affect it later on?

    thanks guys

    That's not good!!!!!!!!!!
90 per cent of the electrics are under water, they will be toast.
The engine is under water. The engine would have ingested water, filling some of the cylinders. Water won't compress, so the pistons usually break.

You probably have insurance, can you place a claim?

Btw, was it a good time, up 'til then?

It was a great night until the truck went for a swim. Hey 2013 can only get better. Insurance is going to look at in the morning.

Wow. Yeah, I would say that the insurance company will probably total it.

    Wow. Hope everyone was OK.

The extent of the damage will depend on:

    1) Whether that's salt/brackish water, or fresh.
    2) Whether you sucked water into the engine before you shut it off.
    3) Whether the dash was under water by the time you pulled it out.

Who knows, considering the value of the truck maybe it's worth replacing the carpet and seats and going over or replacing the wiring harness. If you get to it right away before mold mildew and corrosion set in it can be done. There tend to be long term problems with corrosion of electrical components although most of the firewall forward stuff is pretty well sealed.

Ya i just met with the Insurance man, the trucks dash was under water (fresh) for about 30 min untill we could get the tractor down to get her out. I defanatly got water into the engine also.

Insurance man totaled it, so now onto shopping for another.
