Default 01 Suburban melted tailight sockets

My turn to ask a little advice here. Has anyone with a 2000 and newer Suburban experience tailight bulb sockets that have gotten too hot and melted around the bulb? I discovered this by going to change a burned out bulb but I cannot evem remove the bulb and will need to replace the socket instead. I have not called the dealership parts dept. to see if I can order the socket and wires to replace the old one. This was on the pass side so i pulled the taillight out of the drivers side only to find the socket was melted on that side as well.

I've seen it happen before, on a friends 02 Suburban.
He broke the bulb socket apart and wired in a set from a recycling yard. OEM replacements were expensive.
