Default Gm part number 12499343 compatibility

I have a 2006 gmc sierra, with stock 2.75 exhaust pipe. I was looking at purchasing this exhaust tip gm part 12499343. The seller says it won't fit 2.75 pipe. The tip has a 3" id and is a bolt on tip. Does anyone know if this tip will fit on my truck? Its a good deal and exactly what I'm looking for. The part number says it actually for 2005 and up tahoe and suburban which both of these vehicles have a 2.75 exhaust stock. Thanks for your help in advance.

I don't know where you got that info from, my 2005 yukon xl (same as suburban) has a 3" tail pipe. I just measured it. I don't think it will fit your truck

Is that inside, or outside diameter?

This link claims it is for the performance exhaust http://store.gmpartshouse.com/partlo...28&startrow=11

the 2000 silverado 5.3L 4X4 has a 2-13/16in OD pipe. this is stock OEM original S/Steel.

if the ID is 3 inches bolt on,,, it should fit only 3/16 in gap..

    It should still fit.

BUT, I'll share my secret for putting a nice tip on the 2.75" pipe. Go to the automotive department of your local Wal-Mart. As crappy of a place as it is to shop for vehicle parts, they sell a nice stainless steel tip for 2.75" exhausts for $12. I had one on my Silverado, and it was great. I never had any problems with it and it fit great. It stayed looking nice too. I bought a second one for my Avalanche before I realized it has a 3" exhaust. NOTE -- this only works if you live in the US as canadian Wal-Marts don't stock these tips. It is also the only Non-GM 2.75" tip I've found.
