Calling the Audiophiles!
I need your help. I have the MTX ThunderX 300XD amp in my truck with generic subs. I wish to upgrade those two 10" subs with newer hard hitting ones. I can't decide between these three subs that will work best with my amplifier:
2 Kicker 05C104 =$90
2 JL Audio 10W1v2-4 =$160
2 MTX Audio US-XT-1004 =$100
And also, should the wiring between the sub woofers and amplifier be good ones, or can I keep the 6 yr. old stuff, as long as it works? All other wiring is upgraded. The new subs will be enclosed in 6 yr. old wooden boxes and replace the old subs I have now. Here's a current picture of my set-up:

I'd say go with the JL's. I've heard nothing but good things about them. If your current wires still work great, go ahead and keep them. But wiring is so cheap I'd switch it out for new.

Perhaps I should get the JL's, after all I do have all JL speakers and there pretty good! I was debating between JL Audio and Kicker subs now. My friend has Kicker, and it was good but I'm curious to see how JL subs are. Problem is I can't afford the JL for another month, but I could buy the Kickers now..... hmmmm decisions, decisions......

unless your even considering the Kicker L5's or L7's, I'd go with the JL's.

Definately go JL I have one 10w1v2 in my Colorado and it hits pretty decent. I'm running 225 watts to it and its holding up fine.
Also another factor is to make sure you get some good wiring because sometimes bad wires can cause distortion and what are the box specs? That also plays a huge factor in the SQ.

The MTX subs will give you the best bang for your buck (literally) But the JL's will sound a bit better, but also cost you a bit more. I have a lot of experience with MTX subs and they sound great. If it was me, I'd go with the JL subs though so they will match the JL speakers you already have. You DEFINITELY need to replace the wire. Good wire makes all the difference. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out and post up some pics!
