I tried to look up the answer to my question but couldnt find it. On my 03 Avalanche Z71 with 7-way plug, can i just plug in some where my trailer brake controller or do i have to do some wiring? If so where do i plug it in and could someone post some pics so i could better understand? You need to do some wiring.
On my truck, the wires are tied up behind the knee pad trim, next to the steering column. Check your owner's manual for more info.

I tried looking in the manual but it wasnt any help to me. I did find i have a fuse in my #2 stud which lead me to believe that maybe i did have a quick connection somewhere under the dash and not just the wire hanging. I will just have to look to see if i see the wires latter. I just dont know where the connection would be if it had a plug in somewhere.

here you go see if this helps...
Installation:The Chevrolet Avalanche specific adapter has one end that plugs into the back of the brake controller while the other end plugs into the port in the black box located under the dash.
Note: If your Chevrolet Avalanche has a factory installed hitch and 7-way connector, then all of the wires for the brake controller have already been run. If not, additional parts will be required to complete the installation of the brake controller.
