Hi, i just did it on my '01 5.3. Some of them I could just grip and pull. If you use a pair of slip joint pliers with good teeth, you can grip the heavy rubber part very hard and pull out at the angle of the plug...they really will come out easily, and you won't hurt the rubber. The metal sleeve slides off and on with no problem after that. Also, you will need a wiggle socket adapter for the rear plug on passenger side.

Don't be afraid to grip them hard and pull. I also replaced the wires, which turned out not to need replacing, as they had apparently been recently replaced. If you happen to damage one of yours, I can help you out with a replacement.

I just grab the rubber boot and twist back and forth until it breaks loose. Then I pull them off. You could buy the tools the grabs them from the front and pulls.
