are the more expensive synthetic oils worth the extra money? i.e. amsoil or royal purple?

I know of contractors using the royal purple and sending the oil out for testing. they do this to insure the heavy equipment engines are being protected properly with the use in very dusty environments. They say that with this they have had no engine issues..

amsoil is a very good engine oil. no issues with it from owners using it. they do have a great website to lookup vehicle filter oil/fluid data for specific vehicles.
