    Default 1981 k10 250 4.1l rewiring

    HI GUYS,

This is my first post here, i recently bought a 1981 K10 with a 250 engine, and im planning to rewire the entire truck because it has some electrical issues.

I already saw some wiring harnesses online and i came up with two options:

1 The universal wiring harness that is sold on the page 174 of the LMC truck catalog for Chevy pickups 1973-1987. $ 399

    2 The painless performance products "18 Circuit GM Truck Chassis Wiring Harness 1973 - 1987" $ 550

I want to ask which one is better??

    best wishes

I prefer the Painless harness because I've used them before and know they have everything needed to do the job, but I've been told the harness from LMC is just as complete.

I have also purchased the painless wiring harness, and I took it back to Summit Racing. I bought the 94-97 LT1 harness, which they told me on the phone was a direct replacement for the 97 firebird I had. I bought it for an engine swap, half of the connectors weren't even on it. They wanted me to cut off my original connectors which in my case were melted, and splice them on this harness. I paid $900 for this "kit", Painless in my mind is overpriced and misleading. The only thing that was nice, was the whole harness was covered in powerbraid.

Check out Ron Francis wiring, I bought a harness through them for my LS1 swap and it was perfect. All the relays were marine grade, very easy to read directions and It was only $499.00. The wires were 16gauge, I have since then bought more wiring products from them and have had nothing but good luck.

I rewired a 1985 Crew Cab dually with a 454 that had an engine fire, we ended up using a Painless Engine/Chassis/Body kit since the fire damage was so extensive.
My friend used an LMC Engine harness kit to do a 1984 GMC 4x4 350/350 that had rodent damage on the engine harness.

    3 spd, if it's auto it'll be a Turbo 350, if it's a manual it's probably a Saginaw.
