Default New here but need help

I have a 94 Sonoma with a 4.3 vortex that keeps blowing the ignition module. Replaced the stator (pick up) and the same has happened. It runs great for about 300 to 500 miles and then backfires out of the blue and the module is toast again. Can anyone give me an idea where to look next or maybe what to check/test. Thanx Sean

They can get pretty hot... I assume you cleaned the cooling fins and used fresh lube when you installed the ignition module. My next thoughts would be the coil... or a short or bad connection somewhere.
