my 2003 Silverado z71 ls shifts fine when it is less then 40F outside but once is get over that the trans temp comes up and it starts holding in 2nd gear for until the rpms go up, it don't slip but just holds if I push the tow/hall button it shifts fine also. I changed the shift solenoids and nothing changed. can anyone tell me what i should go after to fix this?Corey M (CoDaChrome™)

I am not a transmission expect by any means, but if I was you, I'd try a fluid flush first.
Under $100 and if not changed recently, it can not do any harm.
Edit: just re-read your post, if you've changed solenoids, you have probably installed fresh fluid. Sorry, gotta learn to read the whole post.Ray

I should have said I changed the fluid and flushed the radiator/cooler, I'm heading down to the auto parts right now to buy a new extra cooler to try that also, I'm trying to get this figured out as I'm heading out on a road trip in 2 weeks going to be driving around 4,000 miles in a week, I have been dealing with this for the last 55k miles and would like to not have to worry once i get into the 100F + temps

its when the trans get to the same temp at the engine so like around 180.
and nope it just hangs in gear then after a short bit and a 800-1000 rpm clime it will shift smooth in 3rd
but if i don't keep pushing the peddle further and further is will just keep the rpms high and not shift at all

Do you know if it has a Throttle position sensor? My 03 yukon xl would also ride out second gear for a long time. I posted the problem here and someone recommended checking the tps. Unfortunately, my 03 did not have a tps and I wrecked the truck before resolving the issue.
