    Default Dash light all crazy

So when it's light out side the dash is all good but when I thurn the head lights on most of the lights in the dash are dim or don't work and the fuel gage reads empty even if its full and the lights for the blinkers stay on and when I use the blinkers the whole dash blinks and finally when the high beams are on all the lights go out in the dash. It's a 1986 chevy step side any help would be great thanks

My best guess is that there is a short somewhere or two or more wires are fused together causing unrelated systems to interfere with each other. You should check all the gauge wiring harnesses.
