Does everyone have a favorite road of highway they like to take for a little weekend get-away or a short little drive on Saturday morning?
One of my favorite drives of all time is US-2 coming out of Seattle, to the north of I-90. It goes through all sorts of great little towns and was actually the east-west route before I-90 was built.
In Texas, we love driving north, getting out of DFW and heading into Oklahoma up I-35. Granted, it's busy at times, but it's a short drive to get out of the city.

I would say SR14 that runs from Vancouver, Washington and goes East to-wards Tri-Cities and follows the picturesque Columbia Gorge between Oregon and Washington.

Nearly anywhere along Hwy 101 along the Oregon coast is my favorite drive for the views. I would also have to 2nd the trip along the Columbia River Gorge between Oregon & Washington. Here in Texas I enjoy Hwy 32 along the "Devil's Backbone" between San Marcos & Blanco.

So many ideas.
Mt Nebo scenic byway just south of here is nice.
Mirror Lake Highway (UT 150) is a really pretty drive.
Do they have to be paved roads? There's reservation ridge road and skyline drive off of US 6 that have some fantastic views of the surrounding area.
Last spring while camping down on the San Rafael swell, we took a little drive up Wild Horse canyon east of Goblin Valley SP. There's some real pretty country in the wilds of the San Rafael. Some places with no signs of life (no bushes or grasses or anything, I guess plants can't grow in the soil associated with a certain geologic formation) and you almost feel like you're on another planet.

Hwy 50 between Auburn Ca. and Lake Tahoe. It used to be much better when it was 2 lane, but it's still great with 4 lanes.
The Mt Etna volcano rd in Sicilly has great views also, the only problem is its a dead end so you gotta come back the way you went up.
