    Default Faulty Gas Gauge

I have a 1995 4 X 4 Suburban with a 5.7 engine. When I apply my brakes the gas gauge will swing wildly and end up either at the full position or empty position. I'm thinking of replacing the stepper motor, but I'm trying to see if there's anything else that might be the cause of this.
