Well, as much as I love my truck, I have decided to search for a car that dominates in the MPG category. As a college student, I don't think I will be able to handle the rising gas prices. So if anyone is interested in buying an 05 silverado with the 4.3 and a custom exhaust, hit me up. My baby only has 16,5XX miles and is in exceptional shape. Always changed the oil when called for, used valvoline full synthetic and napa gold filters, seafoamed once at 12,000 mi. So like I said if interested I am really hoping to get about $11,000 out of it. So if you know someone let me know!
Also, I was just curious to know if anyone else has thought of doing the same thing?

You have to do what is right for your situation. I've thought about getting a smaller truck, but as mine gets avg. of 18mpg I have not seem to many that are really that much better. A couple of mpg isn't enough for me to trade. I owe too much to do too much anyway. Good luck!

We split the difference. I was driving the Cavalier (25 mpg average) and the wife drove the Trailblazer (17 mpg average). However, it's getting "normal" to pay a lot for fuel, so we would balance it all out with a comfortable ride, working from home when I can and taking less trips. Consumption gumption!

I thought about it but I like my 08 Silverado and it averaged last tank 20 mpg. We have the HHR and the van that we drive now for better fuel economy and I just added a Trek folding bike.

We all have to do whats needed. I got rid of my old car and bought a 2009 Toyota Corolla. 50 MPG if you drive reasonable and don't hit passing gear too often.
I forgot to mention< I still have my 2000 Silverado Z71. I'll have that for a while yet. I only use it to tow the fifth wheel, and not too far with the price of gas.
Chris S. The GoFastPadre I like to drive fast and I've got the speeding tickets to prove it. 00 Sierra Z71 ECSB K&N CAI Pacesetter Shorties (soon to be replaced with LT's) Magnaflow HFC's Flowmasters with True Duals and H-Pipe more mods to come
Well I traded the Silverado in on a new Cobalt and I will miss the truck but not the gas bill.

The trade in made the difference and I may be working 275 miles from home and commuting on the weekends. we sat down and did the math and there was over a $1600 savings in fuel over a 1 year time period.
