I looked at the Chevy.com site and I see the Silverado 1500 has a full frame and the Avalanche has two sub-frames. More like a car than a truck?

But, I think it has a full frame. Gotta go crawl under it.

@JTWard based on your inquiries, I have to ask, are you looking to buy a truck in the near future? If so, what do you want/need more: towing/cargo capacity or people capacity. If towing/cargo, then get the Silverado. If people, then get the Avalanche.

Yes your right on with that response. Towing capacity is my number 1 task, people capacity ranks second. So the C1500 4 wheel drive Silverado would most likely be the best pickup for my needs. Thank you !

The Avalanche's max towing capacity is 8100lbs whereas the 4x4 crew cab Silverado with a 5.3L V8, 3.42 rear axle can tow 9600lbs.

Don't forget about crew cab pick-ups; then you can have both!
