Yeah, but we're getting into ethics now. For example, when I went to school I was taught evolution. Well, if that's true, then these laws are just all a bunch of bogusness as all that matters is the survival of the fittest ... why not just go jack someone if you like their SUV? Just as long as you survive, that's all that matters right? (yes, I am fanning the flame) ...

More like pouring gasoline on the flame.

So you are suggesting that we just revert to being savages?

Since when does stealing someone's expensive SUV help you survive?

Just saying that kids aren't being taught right from wrong, and it's only going to get worse ... and not only that, it's not just inner city kids, it's kids in suburbs as well that have moral relativism in their hearts, so they think that it's only wrong if they get caught.

It comes down to each person's ethics and if they choose to follow the rules of society. MOST of us don't take the food off store shelves because we know that is stealing. The rules state you must pay for that food before leaving the store. However, how is OK to just keep the $20 you find on the sidewalk when no one is around? Like Steve's post above, you KNOW that $20 belongs to someone else and not you but do you actively try to find who it belongs to? Why is OK to take $20 that isn't yours but it's not OK to take $20,000?

Problem is when finding a $20 bill on the sidewalk, how do you find out WHO it belongs to? If I found a wallet with cash in it, then I can find out who it belongs to if there is ID.

If I saw a $20 drop out of someone's pocket, I would tell them they dropped $20.

So, as long as no one is around, stealing is OK? If no one is around, would you pick up the $20 or leave it there for the person who lost to come back and retreive it?

Don't get me wrong, I'd sure as hell pick it up! I'm just pointing out the moral dilema of the situation for discussion purposes. :p

There is no way anyone can justify stealing someone else's vehicle. The poor misbegotten minority loser/losers should be working like eveyone else. If Steve from Arlington would have his vehicle stolen and trashed he just might change his opinion on this street trash. That may even sway a liberal lovin' Democrat's way of thinking. Sorry...I vote no on Grand Theft Auto being OK just because you can't pull up your pants or get your cap on straight.

I'm just asking the questions and facilitating the discussion. A bait car and someone stealing my car aren't the same thing, they're trying to catch people with bait cars, and I'll bet that if they enlarged the programs that car theft will actually decrease.

Speeding is against the law too. How does everyone feel about photo radar? What about photo enforced intersections for red lights? Personally, I'm conflicted. I don't want the US turning into the UK where everyone is on closed circuit television from the time they leave their house until they return. Citizens are too often willing to sacrifice freedom in the name of safety, and THAT scares me.
I used to hear of unmarked police cars driving around and enticing young drivers into "speed contests", then pulling them over and ticketing them. That's entrapment and it's wrong. This smells similar to me.

I also have to respond to some of the comments mentioning minorities. Our justice system is the most racist institution in our country. Drug laws are the modern day Jim Crow laws. Blacks especially are prosecuted and jailed at VASTLY disproportionate rates compared to actual use/crimes. That is FACT.
If you think all levels of society are treated equally I encourage you to go see the movie Fruitvale Station. A white cop gets 11 months in jail for shooting a young black man in the back (who is in custody) and kills him. All recorded on cell phone video. If that's a black cop shooting a white man in the back and killing him, tell me its the same sentence...
I was the victim of more crime during the five years I spent in a rural, white town in southern Colorado than the rest of my life living in Denver. Most crime is committed by white folks, but the media portrays that young black men commit most crimes and that is simply NOT the case. Question what the media feeds you, it is social control.

As far as speeding, speed limit numbers are arbitrarily picked, and MANY municipalities use ticketing as a source of revenue. The municipalities claim that they do not use ticketing for revenue generation, but they are lying.

IMO bait cars are not entrapment, if you don't get in the car and steal it, you won't get busted. No one is standing by the car telling people it is OK to take it.

I am very much against unmarked police cars for traffic enforcement. Unmarked police cars are for going after real criminals, not someone going 5MPH over.

The whole US is becoming polarized with race BS. The whole Paula Deen thing is absolutely ridiculous. Why is it if a white person calls a black person the n-word it is a crime, but when a black person calls a white person "honkey", it's not a hate crime? Has anyone ever listened to any rap?
