Hi, I'm thinking of cutting off my old muffler and putting a cherry bomb extreme or glasspack in it's place, but i don't know what size the inlet should be so that i don't have to weld. I think it's 2.75" but im unsure.
I have a 2000 Silverado ext. cab V8 5.3L.
can someone help?
If you are going to change the muffler then you should also get a H F Cat for it as well. I think it is 2 1/2 in/out but the easiest thing would be to cut it off and measure the pipe. The Cb or GP mufflers are not direct replacements so you will have to do some mods to make them work. I would suggest taking it it a shop and have them bend and weld the pipes you will need.

my guess is also a 2.5" so i would say a 2.5 in and 2.5 out muffler would work. are u going to keep the exit pipe on?? id say take the muffler off and measure the pipe on both sides of the muffler. than order up either muffler (both will be loud) and during the time you are waiting to get the new one you can just bolt the old muffler back on
