Default New guy with a few questions

How's it goin guys? I'm new to the forum, but not to Chevys . Die hard Chevy fan and driver. Anyways, my mom owns an '01 Suburban 1500 and she's been having some problems with it. She says it's accelerating roughly, and seems to almost stall. I just assumed it was a fuel filter, because I doubted the pump would go out by now (not sure how many miles on it, but it's not too high). After some searching, I came up with it's either the pump or the crank position sensor. She's going to drive the truck to work (97 Silverado, sport-bed) and let me take a look at the 'Burban. What kind of pressure should I be looking for? On my Camaro, it was roughly 40 at idle, hitting 60 under WOT, but that's a 6 cylinder. I'd assumer the 5.3 would call for more gas, so a higher pressure, right? Any other suggestions?

My '98 fuel pressure runs at 60 psi KOEO and ~50 at idle. I would expect the '01 to be the same. So I wouldn't expect more pressure than your camaro (a little fluid mechanics and pump engineering on the side: operating pressure and volume capacity are different parameters. You don't need to increase the pressure to get more volume)

I would suggest hooking up a scanner to see if there are any trouble codes or pending trouble codes to point things in the right direction.

Yeah, I'm no fluid expert :P. Anyways, she decided to drive it to work today because it started to run fine again?!? She did say a code was thrown, and it's being scanned tonight when she gets home . I'll check the F/P too then. From what I've read, if it's the pump, no codes are generally thrown; I'm hoping it's just the CPS.

Try changing out the filter if you have not already and if it is still acting up, there is a TSB and recall on the 2001 Suburban 1500 w/5.3 fuel delivery system. That is what my wife drives and we had it in the dealership for a random misfire code (bad coil pack was found) and they informed us about the recall and installed a new fuel pump in it at the same time for free (even out of warranty) because of the recall.

We replaced the filter a few weeks ago. I thought there was a recall; we took it to the dealer and they claimed to have done something about it, but we weren't having the problem then. I'm taking it to my uncle's shop tomorrow to have the code scanned and hopefully repaired
