I couldn't find any threads directly addressing aftermarket mass air flow sensors. I've seen them advertised, and they claim boosts in HP and MPG. Has anybody used one? What kind of improvements did it give? Is it worth the $300+?? The main goal of any performance upgrades I'm planning is to improve gas mileage, so if this really makes a difference, I will add it to my list![]()

I have done a number of these in the past on many different trucks and each one noticed a definate increase in performance. Gas mileage is unknown, but I know the performance is there.
I am seriously considering getting one for my truck as well, but finances are limited right now. Seems I have bought too many toys recently! Within the next few weeks I will have one and let you know what I found.
P.S. The ones that I have installed were the Granettelli (if that's how you spell it). Fit like a glove and worked like a charm.

I recently put the Jet MAF on my truck. I noticed about 2-2.5 miles per gallon increase, but had also put the platinum plus 2 plugs, and the granatelli MPG plus stainless plug wires on at the same time, so I cant really tell you which made the biggest difference. I just know that I saw it go from 14.5 mpg to roughly 17mpg, for about 50/50 city/highway driving...

I was looking at this Granatelli MAF on Stylintrucks.com and it reads in the description that it does not work with Hypertech programmers. I was planning on getting a Hypertech Max E-Con eventually, so I started thinking that I couldn't get an aftermarket MAF. Then, what looks like the same Granatelli MAF on JCWhitney.com says that it works great with aftermarket chips or programmers. I was curious why two places would say completely opposite things. Would an aftermarket MAF work with a Hypertech programmer?
After I thought about that, I wondered if the Hypertech would basically do the same job as an aftermarket MAF by re-programming the computer to take advantage of my aftermarket intake. Thoughts on these??

I went with the JET MAF, due to the fact that they do advertise them working with my Hypertech programmer...

Forget the handheld tuner and get yourself a real tune that will make a difference. www.nelsonperformance.com the tune is $375 with FREE retunes for LIFE and they can do far more performance adding adjustments than a hand held ever will. Some guys use www.gowheatley.com his tunes are $275 (I think) but you will also pay for retunes.![]()
