    Default Non Garaged Truck Bad?

For the next 5 years, my truck will no longer be inside a garage. I am going away from home to College in Oklahoma, and was wondering how weather affects vehicles. The truck will pretty much be out in the open, taking a beating from mother nature. Is this bad? What happens to vehicles that are parked outside? I'll still drive it everyday, I just wont be parking in anymore garages. Am I to worry?

Just be sure to keep up on washing, waxing, interior cleaning, and maintenance. If the windows arent tinted it wouldnt hurt to have that done to keep the interior sun damage to a minimum.

Heck, we don't need no stinkin' garages!! Like TBPLUS10 said just do the usual wash wax don't let grit sit on it.

Paint is so good now that it takes the sun pretty well.

Some folks hate automatic washes, but Shells best wash- the one that is $7 with a fill up- is awfully good ,and if you are short of time and energy it is a bargain (especially for a large, tall vehicle). Heck , it even does a decent job on the wheels! It claims to be putting on some sort of wax ?? No idea how they do it, but it does have a slight wax feel to it afterwards.

Best $7 I spend every month!

My '04 Z71 C/C has 103000 miles and as far as I know, it has never seen a garage. Still cleans up and looks like new. It gets washed every month or so. GM's paint has come a long way! Watch out for the "hail" that has on occasion worked it's way through Oklahoma, that is where a garage would really come in handy!

Ok cool, just making sure im safe. I always can do the monthly car washes hehe. I joke with my parents saying that "I shall return soon with my rust bucket" from College.

This may be obvious, but make sure that you are parking it on concrete/asphalt. We had a truck that was parked on gravel over a two year period, and the amount of rust on the frame was amazing, due to the moisture from the ground with evaporation, etc.
