i have a 2002 chevy silverado 4.3L
and i really have no idea what type of intake i should put in it.
any suggestions.
i have my eye on a Volant intake but i dunno.
help would be appreciated

volant intakes are good and many prefer them on here because they are oil free. i prefer K&N just because I have used them and have always gotten positive results from them. they also have a million mile warranty on them. every 10,000 miles or so just give em a cleaning and re-oil and you are good to go. the only problem is if you il them to much they may foul up your mass air flow sensor

yeah oil free does sound good lol.
the k&n gives a 8hp boost and the volant says between 8-10
how do the k&n filters sound?i heard they give some nice responses in the engine.
but i havent heard anything about the volant ones.
any idea?

to me my K&N has a very nice intake noise. it made my truck run so much better to especially when it comes to throttle response. it was well worth the money. and you dont have to really worry about the oil if you do it right. just dont over oil it and its fine. also, oiled filters trap more dirt and dust than dry filters also

so overall the k&n would be superior to the volant intake then?

i would buy the K&N just cuz i like them and have experience with them, but volant is also a very good intake and members here that have purchased them have nothing but praise for them. its up to you and how much each costs haha. power gains will be very similar either way

I have also been very happy with my K&N. Like Pete said, as long as you don't over-oil your filter, the oil is not a problem. I was lucky and found mine on Ebay for $100! You might check there...who knows, you could get lucky. Either way, it's a worthwhile investment!

K&N is a good intake, follow the oiling directions and you'll be ok. I've been using the product for over 20 years on almost every vehicle I've owned and never had problems.

K&N has the best filter I have an 02 Silverado 5.3 liter and thats the next thing I am buying is the K&N FIPK Gen. 2 intake I had it on my last truck and I loved it.
well then im going to go with the k&n.
i really dont have a wide variety of choices since i only have a 4.3L
